Feeling Overwhelmed?

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by life’s circumstances? Where your heart envelopes itself in a cloak of weariness, seeking self-preservation? Where situations beyond your control have exhausted you emotionally and mentally? We all have been there, and so was David when he penned Psalm 61:2, “From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

It is in these places that we feel incapable of making one more decision, vulnerable to the powers of darkness that seek to influence and speak defeat into our lives. Yet from this place of weariness, when we call on the Lord, He is faithful to lead us, governing our steps, granting us a reprieve from the harsh realities we face. When we call on Jesus, all He asks of us is to remove our hands from what we are desperately trying to hold onto, so that He can carry the burden and lead us to a place of stability and safety from the enemy’s attacks. It is a place above us, in His presence, where we encounter Him. Nestled in a divine embrace, we listen as He whispers, “You are mine,” and are comforted in knowing we are His child.

When you are weary, let go and let God. Surrender to Him and find rest, taking shelter in the wings of the Lord, our tower of strength in whom we take refuge. As David stated, “For You have been a refuge for me, a tower of strength against the enemy. Let me dwell in Your tent forever; Let me take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. Selah.” (Ps. 61:3-4 NASB95). Today, stop. Call on the God who hears. Pause and allow Him to shelter You in His arms, where you are hidden from the onslaught, so you can emerge, strengthened in Him.
